PRESS RELEASE Ultrasonic Technologies, Inc. completed a new development project for CeramTec North America Corporation, intending to enhance quality control in CeramTec’s manufacturing process by implementing the Resonance Ultrasonic Vibration (RUV) technology. The RUV system accurately and non-destructively inspects ceramic parts and screens out flawed material caused by cracks and built-in elastic stress by noticeably reducing the ceramic parts breakage rate and increasing yield in manufacturing.
Ultrasonic Technologies and CeramTec jointly performed comprehensive validation of RUV technology and documented high accuracy of cracks and stress detection in the production of ceramic rings. According to CeramTec representative Roy Grace , “The use of the RUV tool has allowed for the identification of finite cracks that cannot be consistently detected with standard visual inspection procedures. RUV testing has significantly reduced defect rates observed by our customers.”
“RUV tools are currently used for crack detection in the manufacturing of solar and fuel cells, armor plates and medical devices. With this project for CeramTec, the RUV technology is expanded to the market of advanced ceramic products”, commented Dr. Sergei Ostapenko, President and CEO of Ultrasonic Technologies, Inc. “Our goal is to integrate high throughput, fully automated in-line RUV system for quality control to increase yield in ceramic parts production.”
